Around The World Trip Print E-mail

We boarded The Young Ones Airways airplane for our around the world trip. We visited many countries and enjoyed activities linked to the particular country we were visiting. In Asia we enjoyed dancers showing us the story of their country. The final destination was the nursery where a food festival took place. Food from all over the world was displayed and tasted. A celebrity came to visit from America who had large ears and red trousers; Mickey Mouse.

Wild West Print E-mail
We had a fabulous day with all staff and children dressing up as cowboys and Indians. Ponies came to nursery and all the children enjoyed meeting them and experiencing the thrill of riding. Cowboy lunch was served.
Clowns Day Print E-mail
Each child and all nursery staff enjoyed their day as clowns.
We all had a red balloon with a tag and we let the balloons fly off into the sky. The tag asked the person who finds the balloon to telephone us.
The furthest balloon was found in Kent.

We invited the RSPCA into the nursery to meet the children. They came with a variety of animals, a tortoise, a dog, rabbits and a caged bird. The children had an enjoyable time petting the animals and asking questions. The guide dog’s for the blind attended with their dog.

A member of staff brought their dog in and Dexter dog showed off his training with tricks. Each child was given a soft toy animal with the child’s choice of name on it.

Birthday Party Print E-mail

In 2010 we celebrated our 24th year at the nursery. The nursery was started in 1986 by Yvonne Turrell MA. This was a new concept for child care in Uxbridge and it was the first private day care facility which provided full day care for two to fives in the Uxbridge area. Yvonne’s three children have all attended it and her daughter, Kelly is now the deputy manager and her son Samuel is an early years assistant.

Yvonne was the first person in the London Borough of Hillingdon to open a baby nursery in 1991 and during the period of 1986 through to 2005 organized five nurseries in the London Borough of Hillingdon with over a hundred child care places catering for babies from three months to children of five years.

Yvonne is the artist in residence with a BA(Hons) in fine art, a degree in fashion and design from Harrow School of Art  and a masters degree in fine art and media from the University of Westminster. Yvonne helped implement the original concept of the nursery nurse NVQ qualification on the consortium in Reading and was one of the first in the country to be a qualified NVQ Assessor.

Yvonne truely believes that 'each child is an individual and should be encouraged to be an independent thinker and that we  should encourage building their confidence and self esteem and above all encouraging the development of free creative thought.'

In 2010 we celebrated our 24th year by enjoying a teddy bear's picnic. We invited our bears to the special tea party and enjoyed teddy bear cake, fresh tropical fruit salad and loads of tea party food. The children made their bears honey cakes which I have since heard the bears really enjoyed.

Summer Holiday FunDay Print E-mail

This funday celebrated our Ofsted inspection award of "Outstanding" in 2009. The children dressed in beach wear and were amazed when a double decker bus was driven into the nursery with a surprise passenger on board, Spiderman!.

The bus concept was inspired by the film, 'Summer Holiday' a film with Cliff Richard who also sung our theme tune, 'The Young Ones'. Parents were amused when the song was played and the children knew the words. Fish chips and mushy peas followed by ice-cream was enjoyed by all.
