Henri Rousseau ‘Imaginary Voyages’

Henri Rousseau was a French customs officer who painted in his spare time.

Although he led a quiet life, never travelling far from home, he made imaginary voyages, creating wild scenes based on plants and animals he saw in parks and zoos, or read about in books.

This artist links in with our nursery trip to London Zoo.
