The children spent a week focusing on flower planting which ended with every child creating a painted flowerpot and a planted flower for their Mummies for Mother's Day. The flower week was popular with the children following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The 'Knowledge and Understanding' area of learning was followed with the learning outcome 'are curious and interested in making things happen'. This was shown through their own development and independance of planting the flowers, which also linked in with the 'seek to make sense of what they see, hear, smell, touch and feel' from the creative area of learning offering them a sensory experience. Every child took part in this activity and the babies followed learning outcomes and the curriculum too. The activity also gave the under two's an opportunity to plant flowers and paint their own pots which they really enjoyed. |
